Forces personnel, including Volunteer Reservists, and their spouses/civil partners can save 1/3 on most rail fares by buying the HM Forces Railcard. The Railcard is valid for 12 months and it can make your off-duty travel much more affordable.

At just £21 a year the HM Forces Railcard can pay for itself in just one or two trips.

Travel by rail, by road or sea

You’ll find you can save 1/3 on most First and Standard class fares including Off Peak Travelcards. You can also use the HM Forces Railcard to buy through tickets on many bus and ship links.

Take the family

The Railcard also lets you take up to four children*, under 16 years, for less with 60% off normal child fares, subject to a £1 minimum fare, anywhere in the country.

What discounts are available?

With the HM Forces Railcard the cardholder can receive the following discounts

34% discount - Anytime, Anytime Day, Off-Peak, Off-Peak Day, Super Off-Peak, Super Off-Peak Day, Advance, Off Peak Travelcard, Anytime Day Travelcard, Oyster Off-Peak pay as you go single fares, Oyster Off-Peak Daily Price Cap fares, Caledonian Sleeper, Weekender, European First, European Standard and European Saver.

You may use discounted and child tickets in Sleeper accommodation provided each ticket holder pays the appropriate Sleeper supplement.

Minimum fares and time restrictions

For journeys made before 10am Monday to Friday, a minimum fare of £12.00 applies (except in July or August, or on public holidays). This applies to all Anytime, Off-Peak and Super Off-Peak Single and Return tickets.There are no minimum fares for all Advance tickets.
